Overall

So I realized I don't really blog that much lol. So I'll just overview. Basically, Pepperdine is amazing I love it so much and the people are even better! My suite-mates are awesome! The only thing that sucks is summer is only a month away. But the good thing is then I get to go to Florence :D I'm gonna miss every1 here so much but then I'm gonna have an awesome time with every1 going with me to Florence and then I'm not gonna wanna go back haha.. So everythings pretty much bittersweet. And I think that one words sums it up. GO WAVES!

What I do in Malibu... Jumpstart

So in case you didn't already know I work at Jumpstart which is an Americorps lead organization designed to help "jumpstart" kids to reach the same academic level as other more privileged kids of their same age... In other words, I go to a preschool with underprivileged children and help to make sure they learn as much as they can before they enter kindergarden. These kids are amazing! I love them so much, and they're so loving themselves. A couple of the boys have been coming in on different days with gel in their hair showing me how they tried to do their hair like mine and they get so excited when I tell them how much I love it or how "cool" it is haha. They run up to me and give me hugs, and try to give me kisses on my cheek (but we're not allowed to let them, but it's hard not to, they're so cute). We're (Jumpstart corps members) also are encouraged to talk about ourselves to the kids so they'd be encouraged to talk about themselves so we can get to know better where they come from, so one of the little girls asked me who Tucker was (my suite-mate that got the tip of his finger cut off), and when I told her he was "sick" she made him a card to give him haha. It's amazing how happy and loved kids can make you feel. I just can't believe I' actually getting paid to do this

1st Blog- Tucker's Finger

So last night was a little crazy. My suite-mate (Tucker) was being his crazy self like he always is, which is what I love about him, he tends to find it funny when he could grosses me out with his socks, knowing that I'm a slight germaphobe lol. Anyways we were messing around and i went to go to my room and he walked over to go in acting like he had his nasty sock in his hand like he usually does so i go over to shut the door and like always he starts acting like he's hurt until i decide to look and see blood on my door and turned out his finger was between the door and the frame, got pinched and let's just say that the tip of his finger was only being held together by skin. I felt SO bad, It feels horrible looking out and seeing someones face in so much pain and need for help. Gosh I still see it and i hate, I don't ever wanna see anyones face like that again, especially knowing that I was part of the cause. Anyways, Tucker's fine now, we got him to the hospital and his finger should be fully healed in 2 days, and he keeps telling me to not feel bad. I just can't get that face out of my head. He's a strong guy and I respect him even more after tonight and how he handled things, cuz I know things wouldn't have played out the same if I had been the one that got my finger-tip snapped off.

Kinda started off with a downer, but Pepperdine's been amazing so far and as you can tell from the story, friendships are growing. So I'm sure it won't be hard to get a more postive post up on here haha.
